Prenatal, Birth & Postpartum Care
We have partnered with Central Park Midwifery, a small private practice with an excellent record of providing holistic and personalized care. Prenatal visits take place at the CPM Upper West Side Clinic and at Love Child. Visits are 30min to an hour long, and we offer high touch personalized care with 24/7 email, text and phone support, particularly helpful in the postpartum stage. We also partner with a maternal-fetal medicine practice to continue to support our clients with higher medical needs (such as gestational diabetes, hypertension or anemia) should they arise.
Births take place at Mt. Sinai West hospital in a birthing center like environment. As midwives, we offer safe, physiological and holistic clinical care with lower intervention and surgical rates than other practices.
We only take a maximum of 10 clients per month, and fill up quickly, so please reach out as soon as possible if you’re interested (mention Love Child in the form). We take clients as late as 28 weeks. When you fill out the form, we will set up a call where you can learn more if midwifery care is right for you.
Postpartum follow up includes continuous phone, text and email support after discharge from the hospital as well as a 2 week and 6 week follow up.
Breastfeeding, Chestfeeding and Lactation Services
We offer in-home lactation counseling for those who would like some additional help getting used to feeding a newborn at home. This includes fixing a painful latch, understanding feeding cues, setting a feeding schedule, ensuring weight gain, assistance with pumping and milk supply as well as common problems like enorgement, plugged ducts, thrush or mastitis.
Peri and Post-Menopause Counseling
For those who are starting to go through menstrual cycle changes or experiencing vasomotor symptoms, this visit is a health overview and counseling on lifestyle changes to address any bothersome symptoms.
Birth Processing
A visit is for anyone trying to better understand their birth experience with a medical professional’s eye and to provide guidance for physical and/or emotional healing.
Billing
We are out of network with all insurance plans, which sounds daunting but usually works quite well. We have a dedicated medical biller who can give you information depending on whether you have out of network benefits or not and can assist in all billing and insurance related issues.
